Mark 7:31-37

 Ephphatha!
In today's readings we see Jesus curing the deaf and mute man. I thought of all those who are indifferent and silent concerning the current political situation and the direction our country is taking. I pray that Jesus will also open the ears of all those, especially Catholics, to hear the truth concerning respect for life, that our religious freedoms are at stake, that we must turn our country around before it is ruined, that we must turn back to God. That they must speak out and proclaim Truth, be vocal for the unborn, defend our religious liberties and call others to defend it, to speak out against the socialists, the secularists and the godless.

It is our job to encourage others by our example, our responsibility to heal their deafness and encourage them to speak out.

Did you catch the phrase that Jesus looked to heaven and groaned. Perhaps we need to do the same, a divine sigh, as our mission before us may be difficult, yet it is our mission.

The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble. (Proverbs 4:18-19 NIV)
